Tomorrow morning I leave Texas, USA, and fly Emirates towards Nairobi. We stop over in Dubai, UAE for 2 hours, and land on Friday evening (East Africa Standard Time) in Nairobi, Kenya!
Nervous? Yes. But very excited to finally be living up to my expectations for myself and for re:char. We will finally be connecting with actual farmers, learning what they need in order to improve their situations, and providing them with solutions. A little less conversation, a little more action.
A few months ago, I reached out to a Kenyan man doing biochar work with local farmers in Bungoma, Kenya. re:char has been developing the partnership since, and on Monday, I finally get to shake his hand. We have joined forces to bring improved biochar technology to struggling farmers, and over the next 3 weeks, Jason, Max (our engineer), and Tim (our East Africa point man), and I will be observing farming and cooking techniques, collaborating with our partners on the ground, and building relationships with new partners. I am very excited about what the future holds for me and Jason and for re:char.

So glad to hear you are there! Sleep well and may the sunrise be just that! Sun rise! m
