Karibu Sana! What a Welcome.

We have arrived in Bungoma, where re:char’s biochar trials and market research has begun (for more info, check out www.re-char.com). We received a welcome that quite literally moved me to tears. welcom-iPhone

I feel so grateful to be welcomed so thoroughly and generously by people who have so little. The women in this video are widows, all very poor farmers who have nothing to their names, and yet they welcomed us with open arms. They sang out, “Welcome Abigail!” as we drove up to their village, and greeted me with a song and a dance, and draped me in a decorative necklace. What a profound experience.

re:char is so lucky to have found such willing and noble partners in this community. They welcome our work with both hands; we are so lucky to finally see the faces of the people whom our work is to benefit!
